I have just had an e-mail from a band that has played in recent weeks (2) that are to play there again on August the 4th, saying that the in house PA, is down to one speaker and low on power.
This will be because they have let people use it and abuse it. and i bet they didn't charge them for it either. That's no way to run a business, if you want to be a music venue then look after your PA..or as is happening bands will turn away from doing gigs there.
As it is bands are staying away because there is hardly any crowd(s) showing up. So i can see this venue/pub dying on it's feet, still like i said at the start when too many promoters were brought in to work on the place..it's 'overkill'. in such a small town, in times where people don'nt have the money to come out and spend everynight, this sort of thing is bound to happen. It was good when it started, but now it's dying out. I'm glad i can't do anymore gigs there due to work, because i wiould be flogging a dead horse and flogging my guts out for what. I never made any money from those gigs and i've been doing it all on my own for ages. The stress factor on that level of getting the bands together, running the door, doing the PA, taking pics...it's far too much work for just one person.
Good luck to anyone who wants to take on the job of promoting in this deadend town.
